Santa Rosa Valley "Hams" is an informal group of Amateur Radio Operators that work together to provide emergency and support communications to the residents of the Santa Rosa Valley. Their primary effort is to support the development of a communications capability in conjunction with the Santa Rosa Valley Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and local Neighborhood Watch efforts. The group also forms a communications link between the community radio system and local law enforcement, fire, and other first responders in the event of an emergency affecting the Valley. |
Some members of the Santa Rosa Valley "Hams" are registered Disaster Service Workers and are members of the Ventura County Auxiliary Communication Service (ACS) organized under the Ventura County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services (OES-Ventura). Ventura County OES is affiliated with the greater California Office of Emergency Services (OES-CA). The local members are part of the Area 3 (Camarillo/Somis/Santa Rosa Valley) group. |
Additionally, one member is licensed under the Army Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS) and is a registered SHARES station in the National Communications System (NCS) providing direct communications liaison with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other key Federal agencies. |
